Augmentity is a personal project where I explored the graphic design approach to the aesthetics of minimalism and augmented reality. It's a branding exercise, focused on developing an identity for a fictional AR/VR/MR studio
To explore Augmented Reality through a graphic design approach and develop a branding case study for a fictional AR studio
My passion for augmented reality and experience in a 3D scanning studio fueled my desire to delve deeper into this fascinating field. I aimed to explore AR from a branding and graphic design perspective, focusing on creating a comprehensive branding case study for a hypothetical augmented reality studio. This project allowed me to combine my technical knowledge with creative branding strategies to enhance my design skills.
I was inspired by the aesthetics of the Augmented Reality space and built my concept around it
The concept draws inspiration from the perspective, volume, and layering of information in augmented reality spaces. It explores how AR environments create immersive experiences by blending digital elements with the physical world, emphasizing dynamic spatial relationships and interactive storytelling. The design approach reflects the fluidity of AR, incorporating vibrant visuals, intuitive navigation, and scalable frameworks to enhance user engagement and seamlessly integrate complex data layers.
To develop the identity for an augmented reality project, I conducted thorough research on augmented reality space that convey a sense of virtual space and the future. I also conducted in-depth research on typography to create the logo from scratch.
My goal was not only to create a design project, but also to explore the UX/UI aspects of augmented reality.
Consequently, I studied the interface principles of AR/VR/MR technologies, expanded my expertise with this knowledge, and developed my own design concepts and aesthetic approach.
The design system I created incorporates vibrant colors and a style conveying futuristic themes. The logo conveys the sense of layering and the lightness inherent in augmented reality environments. Patterns are derived from different states of the logo and also evoke the sense of layered, virtual structures.
I implemented the brand identity across various surfaces and environments to demonstrate how it functions in real space, evoking the sense of augmented reality. I also utilized a digital iconography system to reinforce the digital connection within the identity.
I not only worked on the graphic part of this brand identity, but also investigated UX/UI design principles of building virtual and augmented interfaces. I created several mock-up interfaces to check how the brand identity works in augmented reality space and also to apply my theoretical knowledge about AR interfaces in practice, which significantly enriched my professional skills in UX/UI design.
I was also interested in how augmented reality aesthetics influences the perception of the whole project presentation, elevating it to the next level and enriching it with a digital feel, virtual elements, and a futuristic touch.
